The Natural Areas Association encourages as many students as possible to attend the conference. Network with conservation professionals, identify new career opportunities, share ideas with your peers, and attend as many sessions as you wish to learn, learn, learn!
Students are encouraged to apply for a John W. Humke Student Scholarship.
Student involvement in the conference is important to the NAA.
NAA is offering a special low-cost membership rate — only $35. Includes a subscription to Natural Areas Journal, discounted NAC registration, Natural Area News newsletter, and free access to NAA webinar series!
Prizes totaling over $200 will be awarded to students at the Natural Areas Conference. During the abstract submission process, students were asked to take part in the competition, which takes place every year. In addition to cash prizes, winners receive a complimentary two-year student membership or extension of their current membership.
Students and recent graduates should take advantage of this unique opportunity to make connections in your desired field! You’ll have the chance to meet and exchange contact information with several natural areas professionals with similar interests as you. Students will be able to share their backgrounds and career aspirations with a number of potential employers while professionals can use this event to connect with potential new hires. Students are encouraged to talk about their career goals, major, and their job experience. Everyone is welcome, but you must sign up during registration.
Students are encouraged to attend this session on finding careers in the natural resources field. Plan to hear from employees of the USFWS, Forest Service, National Park Service, The Nature Conservancy, Bureau of Land Management and state natural areas programs. Each professional will give a 10–15 minute presentation about career opportunities, negotiating the hiring process, plus skills needed and pathways necessary to achieve those skills. The goal is to share key information to make you the most qualified candidate for a job at their prospective organization/agency. This session will also include a panel discussion with plenty of opportunities for questions and follow-up.
